Several charitable organizations initiated discussions with Saskatchewan
Justice in the fall of 2000 about emerging concerns with respect
to questionable practices of some charitable fund-raisers. As a
result, a steering committee of charitable organizations, law enforcement
agencies and Saskatchewan Justice was established to consider the
concerns and options to address the concerns. This consultation
paper has been developed to: identify current issues or problems
in Saskatchewan; engage charities and the public in discussions
about charitable fund-raising to raise public awareness about the
issues; and develop options with respect to action that can be taken
within Saskatchewan to address issues.
