Question.

What is a Partisan Political Activity?

Answer.

A partisan political activity is one that involves direct or indirect support of, or opposition to, any political party or candidate for public office. A charity that uses ANY of its resources for partisan political activities could lose its registered status. The following activities could jeopardize a charity's registered status:

  • using the charity's premises, equipment, or personnel for partisan political activities. For example, posting signs of a particular candidate is not acceptable;
  • providing a charity's mailing list to political parties, politicians, or candidates; or
  • purchasing tickets to fund-raisers to benefit political parties, politicians, or candidates
