Question.

What would be an acceptable political activity?

Answer.

Assuming that the 10% rule is respected, the following would be examples of acceptable political activities:
In conjunction with its conservation programs, a charity established to protect wildlife asks citizens to press for stricter legislative standards for disposing of industrial waste.
A charity that assists new mothers campaigns for public acceptance of breast-feeding.
The charity could accomplish these activities by a variety of means, including the following:

  • presenting publications, conferences, and workshops;
  • placing advertisements in newspapers, magazines, or on television or radio;
  • organizing public meetings or lawful demonstrations; or
  • organizing mailing campaigns requesting its members or the public to write to the media and government to express support for the charity's views on political issues and matters of public policy.
