One of the stated purposes of this provincial statute is to
protect the public from fraudulent, misleading or confusing solicitations
and to establish standards for charitable organizations and fund-raising
businesses when making solicitations for money or goods. It applies
to both registered charities and non-profits. The regulations
under the Act specify conditions relating to the use of professional
fund-raisers. By not following the requirements of ,the Act the
organization and its directors can find themselves subject to
serious penalties.
