What does the Charitable Fund-raising Act cover?

Answer.

One of the stated purposes of this provincial statute is to protect the public from fraudulent, misleading or confusing solicitations and to establish standards for charitable organizations and fund-raising businesses when making solicitations for money or goods. It applies to both registered charities and non-profits. The regulations under the Act specify conditions relating to the use of professional fund-raisers. By not following the requirements of ,the Act the organization and its directors can find themselves subject to serious penalties.
